Murph, people still talking about albums like Nelly’s “Country Grammar” and your “Murphy’s Law”. How you feel when the journalists ask you again and again about that?
I feel cool when journalists ask about the old albums because it means one or two things… That you were down from the beginning or you’ve done your research because you are checking for me now. So it’s a good thing. We appreciate the music that got us to where we are now in our careers.
Nelly, you and “St. Lunatics” puts St. Louis on the hip-hop map. What you think about other renowned rappers from your town - Chingy, Huey, J-Kwon and Jibbs?
Man, I love the other rappers from the Lou who dropped albums and the ones who plane on dropping albums. Even through differences I still always supported their music.
We can hear you with “St. Lunatics” on two songs of Nelly’s new disc “Brass Knuckles”. Is there a big promotion and tour for the album?
Yeah, we are on the road right now. I’m out promoting the new “Murph Or Die! U Choose” mixtape which is really doing well and I have the “My Shoes” single rotating. We are like 20 songs deep into the new “Lunatics” album scheduled for the summer. “Brass Knuckles” is in stores now. Also Avery Storm album coming soon.
Let’s talk about your projects. You got new single – “My Shoes”. Tell us more about the shooting of the funny video for the song?
“My Shoes” is one of the best songs I have done thus far. It doesn’t represent the materialistic part of shoes like rims and tennis shoes. But it’s the shoes I’ve been walking in for the past years. It’s a good feeling song, so I wanted the video to be bright and fun like the videos we had when we first got into the game. “My Shoes” is the first lead single off the new Murphy Lee album called “You See Me” and scheduled for spring.

You were too busy in your personal life through last couple years. I mean – family, business and other things. Tell us more about that?
For the past three years, man, I just been getting all my business together for the future. I know you can’t rap forever, so I just been setting up opportunities for the future. I would have never thought that it would be so long to drop my next album. It’s been out of my control. Now I’m taking control and it's Murph or Die U Choose!
The U.S. economy is officially in recession now. What bothers you the most in this situation?
The thing that probably bothers me the most is saying no to my kids. I was so poor growing up, that I didn’t wanna watch my spending. I wanted all the stuff I couldn’t have when I was younger. So when I had kids, I wanted to give them the world. But now you really have to watch your spending because we don’t know what’s next for America.
What gives you hope for a better future in today’s global world?

What gives me hope about the future in this global world is Obama!
